The Chinese does have this saying and it goes like this:

学如逆水行舟，不进则退 [xue2 ru2 ni4 shui3 xing2 zhou1 , bu4 jin4 ze2 tui4]

It basically it means the same: Study is like sailing against the current: either you keep forging ahead or you keep falling behind.

Hello John,
I meant to get rid of redundant words from the vocabulary list I've made.

e.g.
水 shuǐ water / river
I would leave: 水 shuǐ river

But what about: 则 zé ?

则 zé conjunction used to express contrast with a previous sentence or clause / standard / norm / rule / to imitate / to follow / then / principle / classifier for written items (such as an official statement)

Hello xiaoqin,

If you mean that:
Everything got back to normal. \ Everything returned back to normal.
your sentence is correct.
In other words it means:
"Everything got back to its (own) place".

The sentence "Everything is in its place" doesn't imply that before the event which put something in order (or set something right) the state was the same.
Your sentence: "一切都恢复正常" does.
